인구 29만 2468명의 도시, 버팔로에서 가까운 곳에 위치해 있으며 기후는 온화-건조하고 배수가 잘 되어, 아름다운 도시의 하나로 꼽히고 있습니다. 뉴욕, 보스턴, 시카고 등 주요도시에 가깝고, 동부에서 서부로 가는 교통의 요지라는 조건이 겹쳐 미국 유수의 상공업-호항 도시로 성장하였습니다. 1846년 창립된 버펄로대학교, 코대학교항공연구소, 이곳 출신인 클리블랜드, 필모어 두 대통령의 기념시설과, 1901년 이곳에서 암살된 매킨리 대통령의 기념탑 등이 있습니다.
Canisius high School은 1872년에 설립된 명문 사립 남학교입니다. 8-12학년까지 제공하고 있으며 총 학생수는 800여명입니다. 이 학교의 SAT 평균은 1200점이며 100% 대학 진학률을 보이는 학교입니다. 넓은 캠퍼스와 학생들이 이용할 만한 시설이 다양하게 제공되고 있습니다. 체육관, 3개의 컴퓨실이 있으며 모든 컴퓨터는 도서관 인터넷과 연결되어 있어 자료를 쉽게 찾을 수 있습니다. 도서관(The Florence Hanrahan Carr Memorial Library)은 7200여권의 서적이 있으며 월-금일 오전 7시부터 오후 5시까지 운영됩니다. 또한 4개의 과학실 30개의 교실과 수영장과 넓은 운동장, 상담실과 학생들의 건강관리를 위한 웨이트 룸이 준비되어 있습니다.
학생들에게 제공되는 스포츠로는 Baseball, Basketball, Bowling, Crew, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Hockey, Indoor Track, Lacrosse, Squash, Swimming, Tennis, Track and Field, Volleyball, Wrestling이 있습니다. 수업 후에는 다양한 클럽활동이 제공되며 개인적으로 관심있는 분야가 있으며 새로운 클럽을 열어 공통관심을 가지고 있는 학생들이 모여 활동할 수 있습니다.
