다양한 과목을 제공하는 Xavier High School

1890년 설립된 Xavier High School은 역사가 오래된 학교입니다. Cedar Rapid에 위치하고 있으며 LaSalle High School과 Regis High School이 합병되어 1998년 현재의 위치로 캠퍼스가 이전하면서 학교 이름도 Xavier High School로 개명되었습니다. 현재 700여명의 학생이 재학 중이며 9-12학년을 제공하고 있으며 교사 대 학생비율은 현재 1: 17정도입니다. 다른 크리스챤/카톨릭 학교에 비해서 학생수가 많은 편입니다. 현재 한국 학생은 2명이 재학중이며 2005년에 한 명의 학생이 입학하게 됩니다. 2005-2006년도 학비는 $4,590이며 점심은 홈스테이에서 준비해 주거나 학교 Commons에서 점심을 제공하고 있습니다. 학생들은 점심 티켓을 구입하고 티켓을 잊어버릴 경우 $5 대체비용을 다시 지불해야 합니다. 11학년과 12학년은 대학 준비반으로 미리 학생들이 지원할 학교에 방문하기 위해서 11학년은 하루, 12학년은 이틀간 결석하는 것을 허락합니다. Xavier High School은 학생들의 안전을 위해 캠퍼스 전체의 활동을 24시간 감시 카메라를 설치해서 보호, 기록, 감독하는 시스템을 운영하고 있습니다.



Xavier High School을 졸업하기 위해서는 아래와 같이 모든 과목 시간을 이수해야 합니다.

Theology는 카톨릭 학생은 4년, 종교가 없는 학생은 최소 2년 동안 수업을 들어야 합니다. 모든 학생은 Theology 과목 중에서 Christian Lifestyle 과목을 이수해야만 합니다. 영어는 English I, II, III를 듣고 영어 선택과목 중에서 추가적으로 11 혹은 12학년에 이수해야 합니다. Social Studies(사회과목) 중에서 American History는 모두 9학년에 필수적으로 등록해야 하며 World History는 11학년, government and Economics는 12학년에 필수적으로 수강해야 하는 사회과목입니다.
Guidance는 한 쿼터에 9, 10, 11학년은 일주일에 한번, 12학년은 개별적으로 카운셀러 교사를 만나 상담을 하게 됩니다. 학생의 Report Card는 일년에 각 쿼터를 마칠 때마다 부모님 혹은 가디언에게 발급되며 각 수업의 성적, 교사 코멘트, 평점이 나타납니다. 일반 과목 이외에도 다양한 Honors 과 AP 과목을 제공하고 있습니다.
