Slang과 jargon은 안녕~ 이라는 원칙 3을 공부하셨습니다!

 

3탄에 드린 2가지 문장에 대한 답을 알아볼까요?

 

4. Hassan was so out of it that he forget his homework.

 

4번 문장에서는 was so out of it을 was so overwhelmed, confused , distracted  등등으로

고쳐주시면 됩니다!

 

Hassan was so overwhelmed that he forget his homework

 

5. The large black and blue mark of Shireen's arm, a hematoma caused by a fall 

from her bycicle, was painful.

5번에 경우는 slang이 아닌 jargon이라고 할 수 있는데요,  문장을 해석하면 대~에~충

어떤 의미를 담고 있는 단어인지 알 수 가 있습니다! 

 

그것은...

멍! 이죠. 영어로는 bruise 정말, 캐나다나 미국 현지에서 아이들과 같이 생활하다면 많이 들을 수 있는 단어입니다ㅎㅎ....

그럼 문장을 쉽게 고쳐보면,

 

5. The large black and blue mark of Shireen's arm, a bruise caused by a fall 

from her bycicle, was painful.

 

자! 이제 마지막 원칙을 알아볼까요?

 

원칙 (Principle )4

Eliminate redundancy and unnecessary repetition by cutting words or combining sentence.

단어를 삭제하거나 문장을 결합하여 불필요하고 쓸모없는 중복/반복되는 부분을 제거하라.

 

바로 예시를 보시죠!

 

1. The fox that was gray in color and large in size slyly circled around his prey.

혹시 반복적인 또는 불필요한 단어들이 보이실까요?

 

(생각중)

 

The fox that was gray in color and large in size slyly circled around his prey.

대부분 gray는 색상이라는 것을 알고 있죠~ 그리고 large 또한 크기라는 의미가 포함되어 있습니다.

그리고....  circle의 뜻을 보시면, 

Move all the way around (someone or something) :주변을 빙빙돈다

이미 around의 의미가 circle안에 포함이 되어 있습니다~  그러므로..

 

The fox that was gray in color and large in size slyly circled around his prey.

The fox that was gray and large slyly circled  his prey.

 

문장이 훨얼~씬 깔끔해지지 않았나요?

AmericanWar 라고도 불리는 Vietnam War.

또한 이미 문장 마지막에서 America라고 언급이 되어 있으므로 

to the United States를 생략하셔도 좋습니다.

 

같은 맥략에서 in Vietnam 역시 이미 Vietnam veterans이라고 언급이되어 있으므로생략 가능합니다!

 

다시 정리 해보면...
