ALBERTA - ECE

알버타 주의 ECE 관련 직종은 아래 세 가지 Level이 있습니다.

1. Child Development Assistant(구 Level I) : Early learning and child care에 관한 Post-secondary 교과과정을 최소한 45시간 이상 공부했을 때 Certification 신청 가능

2. Child Development Worker (구 Level II) : Child Development Worker는 1년 이상의 Early learning and child care certificate program과 college level의 영어나 불어교육을 마친 경우에 Certification 신청 가능

3. Child Development Supervisor (구 Level III) : Child Development Supervisor는 2년 이상의 Early learning and child care certificate program과 college level의 영어나 불어교육을 마친 경우에 Certification 신청 가능

알버타주 ECE Certification 신청

- 위 3가지 가운데 지원하고자 하는 하나의 Certification에서 요구되는 교육을 마쳤어야 함. 이를 위해 외국에서 교육을 받은 신청자는 사전에 학력인증을 받아서 결과를 제출해야 한다.

학력인증: IQAS (Alberta International Qualifications Assessment Services)

- 신청서 작성: Application for Child Care Certification
- Official and original transcripts (신청서에 첨부할 수도 있고, 교육 기관에서 Alberta Child Care Staff Certification Office로 직접 송부해도 됨)

각 Level 별로 인정되는 교육과정

Child Development Assistant

- Child Care Orientation Course 이수 (알버타 주정부에서 제공하는 과정)
- 45시간 (3 credits)의 college level의 교육과정 이수 (Early learning and child care)

Child Development Workers

- 최소 3년 과정의 Psychology 또는 Sociology 교육을 마치고 취득한 Degree
- 1년 과정의 Early learning and child care certificate
- 2년 과정의 Educational assistant diploma
- 최소 3년 과정의 early childhood education 교과과정을 듣고 취득한 Fine arts degree
- 2년 과정의 Human services diploma나 degree
- 최소 3년 과정의 Medicine degree
- 최소 3년 과정의 Pediatrics degree
- 최소 3년 과정의 Physical education degree
- 최소 2년 과정의 Recreation therapy diploma나 degree
- 최소 2년 과정의 Rehabilitation diploma나 degree
- 1년 과정의 School-age care certificate
- 최소 3년 과정의 Science (nursing) degree
- 2년 과정의 Social work diploma
- 1년 과정의 Teaching diploma 또는 certificate
AND
- 최소 One college level English/French 과정 이수

Child Development Supervisor

- 최소 3년 과정의 Early childhood, elementary or secondary education-general 교육을 마치고 취득한 Education degree
- 최소 2년 과정의 Child and youth care diploma 또는 degree
- 최소 2년 과정의 Early learning and child care diploma
- 최소 3년 과정의 Home science/child development degree
- 최소 3년 과정의 Education Science degree
- 최소 3년 과정의 Social work degree
AND
- 최소 One college level English/French 과정 이수

위에 나열된 교육과정을 마치고 신청을 하는 경우 경력은 Certification Process에는 영향을 미치지 않고, 위 교육은 반드시 알버타 주에서 받은 것이 아니어도 된다. 단, 교육 과정이 위 리스트와 완전히 부합하지 않는 경우 IQAS 학력인증을 먼저 진행합니다.

TIPS

위 3가지 Level의 Certification 신청을 하기 위해 요구되는 교육과정 (특히 Child Development Workers Certification)을 보면 의외로 직접적인 ECE 프로그램이 아닌 전공들도 포함되어 있다는 사실을 알 수 있습니다.
따라서 만약 유학 전공을 Early Childhood Education으로 하는 것에 대해 명확한 판단을 하지 못한 분들이거나 혹은 한국에서 이미 관련 전공을 마쳤지만 새로운 분야를 공부해 보고 싶은 분들은 위에 나열된 교육과정 리스트 가운데 관심이 있는 다른 분야를 선택해서 유학을 한 후 ECE로의 길을 또 하나의 Option으로 열어두는 것도 고려해 볼 수 있겠습니다.

알버타주는 ECE들에게 주정부 보조금(Government wage top-up)을 지원하고 있는데, 정식 child care worker로 일을 하는 경우 지원 대상이 되며 최대 월 181시간에 대해서 까지, 시간당 최대 $6.62까지 지원됩니다. (Level 에 따라 시간당으로 계산-지급)

영주권 신청

CEC

졸업 후 필요한 영어성적을 확보했고, ECE를 포함한 Skilled Worker로 full-time 1년 이상을 근무한 경우 Express Entry System에 CEC 프로그램으로 등록 가능

주정부이민(AINP): AINP Employer Driven Stream-Skilled Worker Category 신청 가능

단, AINP-Post Graduate Worker Category로는 신청 할 수 없음
신청자는 Level 2 or Level 3 소지자로 알버타 주에서 Work Permit을 가지고 Full-time으로 6개월 이상 일한 상태라야 하고, 고용주는 알버타 주정부에서 Early Learning and Care Service를 제공할 수 있는 곳으로 인정된 곳이라야 한다.
