학과소개

식품영양관리 졸업생들은 큰폭의 성장세를 보이고있는 푸드서비스 시장에서 그 역할을 담당하게 됩니다. 이과정을 통해 학생들은 영양, 푸드사이언스, 메뉴플래닝, 식품 생산, 설비디자인 및 유지, 예산과 인력관리등을 학습하게 됩니다. 식품 영양관리자는 영양관리사, 요리사, 푸드서비스 종사자들과 함께 일을 하게 됩니다. 학생들은 장기요양시설, 은퇴자들을 위한 레지던스, 교정 기관, 병원, 카페테리아, 항공식음료 서비스 외 다양한 시설에서 근무할수 있는 기회를 얻게 됩니다. 2번의 5주간의 실습을 포함, 2년 온타리오 디플로마를 취득하게 될 이 과정은, 첫번째 과정은 1년 후, 두번째는 3학기후에 실습이 포함되어 있습니다.

진로

Food and food management 분야는 115억불 시장의 규모를 보이며 꾸준히 성장하고 있는 분야입니다. 졸업생들은 매우 폭넓은 분야에서 일을 할 기회를 갖게 되는데, 병원이나, 각종기관, 장기 요양원, 은퇴자 센터, 교육기관, 정부기관, 교정기관등에서 일자리를 구할수 있습니다. 졸업생들이 타이틀을 갖게 되는 대표 직업군 리스트입니다.

취업전망

취업전망은 밝은편입니다.
1990년대 중반예산삭감으로 쇠퇴했던 이 분야는, 최근 건강에 대한 관심이 증대되면서 정부지원등과 맞물려 취업이 대폭 증가하고 있는 추세입니다. 향후 전망역시 취업기회는 증가할 것으로 보여집니다. 취업기회는, 기존 전임자들의 퇴직과 신규 고용 창출과 맞물려 제공되며, 이와 유사한 분야로 이직하는 경우등을 보완하기 위한 취업기회 역시 오픈되어질수 있습니다.

영주권과의 연계성

이 학과를 졸업하게 되면, 대표적으로 food and nutrition technician 로 일을 하게 되는 경우가 많습니다. 경우에 따라 food service supervisor 로 취업이 되는 경우도 있기는 합니다만, 이 직종은 아시다시피 이민신청이 불가능한 직종으로 분류되었으므로 유의하셔야 합니다. food and nutrition technician 과 food service supervisor 의 차이점이라면, 전자가 영양학을 가미해서 영양사등과 함께 식단을 구성하고 영양 컨설팅을 제공하는 반면, 후자는 영양학적인 부분은 배제한채, 전체적인 푸드서비스의 관리감독에 치중된 직종임을 들수 있겠습니다. 취업하실때 이런 부분을 고려해서 직장을 구하셔야겠구요.. 급여역시 일반적인 food service supervisor 보다 food and nutrition technician 이 높기 때문에 평준 급여 이상을 수령함으로서 CEC 신청에 문제가 없는지도 간과하시면 안되는 부분입니다.
